Global Cybersecurity Index for 2017

The International Telecommunication Union (ITU) released its Global Cybersecurity Index for 2017 in the second week of June 2017.  Mauritius is ranked 6th globally… This is an achievement the country can be proud of.   The top 10 global ranking are: 1. Singapore (0.925) 2. USA (0.919) 3. Malaysia (0.893) 4. Oman (0.871) 5. Estonia (0.846) 6. Mauritius (0.830) 7. Australia (0.824) 8. Georgia (0.819) and France (0.819) (ex-aequo) 9. The Ministry of Information and Communication Technology, in collaboration with the African Union Commission, conducted a Technical Aspects on Setting up, Operating and Administering Internet Exchange Points (IXPs) Training Workshop in Mauritius from 25th to 29th August 2014 at Cyber Tower 1, Ebene. Objectives of the Ministry

  • Formulate appropriate policies and provide the necessary legal framework for the development of ICT and its optimal use across all sectors 

  • Facilitate, through the implementation of an E-Government programme, the provision of  Government services electronically anytime anywhere for the greater convenience of the public  

  • Promote and facilitate the development of the ICT sector 

  • Ensure that the ICT culture permeates all levels of the society  to bridge the digital divide to the extent possible

  • Promote the development of  ICT enabled services including e-business


  • Encourage the adoption of new technologies and best practices in the ICT sector

  • Promote capacity building in ICT sector

  • Promote and facilitate IT Security within Government Systems
